Lao PDR is in the early stages of a demographic transition, the changing pattern of mortality, fertility and growth rates, combined with growing urbanization.The country has a window of opportunity to benefit from a demographic dividend (DD) as it is entering a 20-year period during which it will have the largest share of working age population and fewer dependents (i.e. those below 15 years and above 65 years).
