UNFPA Office in Lao PDR is looking for an International Consultant to support Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) with in-depth Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) content analysis and revise CSE materials/booklets for Lower and Upper Secondary Education.

Duration of the work:              From April to May 2018

Place of work:                         Home based and UNFPA CO/MoES in Vientiane, Lao PDR

 

The selected consultant will work closely with UNFPA Youth team and technical team of MoES to engage in these activities below:

  • Review the relevant documents such the CSE assessment report, the secondary curriculum, the new international guidance on CSE, the ASRH teacher’s guidebook etc. and identify CSE contents to be adjusted (what is missing and what could be added) as well as review the existing CSE materials.
  • Conduct technical workshop with core team of MoES to present and discuss the proposed CSE contents to be adjusted and agreed upon.
  • Expend agreed CSE contents and develop booklets for lower and upper secondary to the specific topics of relevance such as Biology and Population Studies.
  • Revise CSE materials/job aids and update to the topic specific job aids for lower secondary.
  • Work with the designer to produce the creative updated CSE materials/job aids.
  • Develop guiding notes for teachers on the use of updated CSE materials/job aids.
  • Coach National Programme Officer of UNFPA to conduct orientation workshop on the use of updated CSE materials/job aids for teachers in the target province of UNFPA.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-graduate academic qualification in public health/medicine/Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), with specific experience within the field of adolescent sexual reproductive health (ASRH) or relevant areas required.
  • Professional experience in designing Comprehensive Sexuality Education including development of teaching materials focusing on teaching methodologies for CSE in primary education.
  • Familiarity with the CSE and the professional experience to work with the government (MoES) of Lao PDR or government in any South/ South-East Asian Country on Sexual Reproductive Health education preferable.
  • Advanced English writing and communication skills required.
