Lao Social Indicator Survey II 2017-18

The Lao Social Indicator Survey II (LSIS II) was carried out in 2017 by Lao Statistics Bureau (LSB) in collaboration with
Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and Sport, as part of the Global Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS)
Programme. Technical support was provided by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), with government funding
and financial support of UNICEF and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), European Union (EU), Luxembourg
Government, United States Agency for International (USAID), Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), World Food
Programme (WFP), and United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP), World Health Organisation (WHO) and
Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). USAID provided technical support for the data collection and
analysis on anaemia.

Lao Population Projection National and Province 2015-2045

Population projections are extremely important for effective management and administration of population growth and related demographic issues. If population projections are as accurate as possible, the government and policymakers will be able to inform and formulate policies and development plans with greater precision, in order to respond with necessary and effective population services such as social services and social welfare. Due to this importance and necessity the Lao Statistics Bureau, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, has conducted this population projection by utilizing the baseline data from the fourth Population and Housing Census in 2015.

State of World Population Report

UNFPA flagship report State of World Population 2017, “Worlds Apart: Reproductive Health and Rights in an Age of Inequality". Unless inequality is urgently tackled and the the poorest women empowered to make their own decisions about their lives, countries could face unrest and threats to peace and to their development goals. The costs of inequalities, including in sexual and reproductive health and rights, could extend to the entire global community’s goals.

Noi 2030 Fact Sheet

Who is Noi and why should we invest in her? This fact sheet was produced for Noi’s first anniversary on the International Day of the Girl Child in 2017. It introduces Noi, the animated character representing all adolescent girls in Lao PDR, explains what the Noi 2030 framework is, and calls for creation of partnerships around Noi.
